This web site covers the Essex Military, in its various forms, from 1415 up to 1958 when the Essex Regiment was amalgamated into the Royal Anglian Regiment.
Naturally the main focus is the Essex Regiment which is the largest and best known although details are provided on the Essex Yeomanry and the military predecessors, the 44th East Essex Regiment and the 56th West Essex Regiment plus a variety of Militia Groups going back to the English Civil War. To respect the various privacy laws in the UK no data is displayed after 1920 unless that person is known to have died.
